Three days battery
How good or how bad is this device? This is the Nokia G10, a device that has been around for a while now let's say three months I believe.I picked one up and I decided to review it as the last Nokia device. The Nokia G10 is a device on the Android One program so, like other Nokia devices this one runs on stock Android and it is going to get up to two years of OS upgrades. That is Android versions 12 and 13 are guaranteed. Pretty solid for a device at this price point, I think only Samsung and Nokia offer such software support for their entry-level devices. And speaking of price, the Nokia G10 retails for about 145 dollars, and I think there's a 4 gig version that costs a bit more..
This is the version with 3 gigs of RAM and 32 gigs of internal storage. The Nokia G10 comes in two colors, Dusk and Night, this one is dusk. The box of the Nokia G10 is different from the previous slim squared box we're used to with Nokia devices. This time it is the conventional rectangular box we see with other devices. It contains all accessories including a TPU case and a pre-installed screen protector. The G10 is a solidly built device with a glass display and plastic rear. The rear finish is textured and it reminds me of the Nokia 3.4.
Triple Camera
The camera arrangement on the G10 follows the conventional circular one we've seen on most Nokia devices since the year 2019, it is a triple camera setup. The G10 is one of the first Nokia smartphones to have a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, we've previously seen it on the rear of other Nokia devices. It is placed on the power button on this one, it is easy to reach, it is accurate but there is a noticeably slight delay when you're unlocking the device. You can also use face unlock if that is what you prefer. You also get a dedicated google assistant button on the left side which can be easily disabled, sadly you cannot remap it. I find it pretty useless as I can easily trigger the assistant without it.
Mono Speaker
The headphone jack on the Nokia G10 is at the top which is my preferred position and its speaker is a bottom-firing one, a mono speaker which you are going to find quite decent. Aside from its price, a major selling point on the Nokia G10 is its battery life and that is really no joke, depending on how you use your device you can actually get two days of battery life and possibly three. Being on the Android one program means it runs on stock Android and that also means it is very much bloatware and ads-free, and it is a lightweight software. At the initial setup, I received a massive 1.7-gigabyte software update. It is currently up to date with the August security patch. By default, it uses gesture navigation but you can easily disable that for 3 buttons if that is your preference. You can find that setting in the accessibility option under settings, then scroll down to the system navigation, and then you can select three-button navigation.
WaterdropWith the Nokia G10, you also get features like multi-user and screen recording without the need for a third-party application. Its display is 6.52 inches tall and it has the waterdrop notch style for its selfie camera. It is an IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 by 1600, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It is a good display for its price and it is okay for media consumption. The Nokia G10 is a capable device when it comes to running your regular apps and a little multitasking compared to other similarly priced devices. It is easy to use and you will have no issues with this one for day-to-day use..
If you do some light gaming the G10 can handle it fairly well but this is not a gaming device. You should have a bigger budget if that is what you want. The cameras on the Nokia G10 are a triple rear combination of a 13-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel macro camera, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. The rear camera takes good photos, actually performs better than I would have expected at this price point. To get the best results however it is best to stay still for at least a second after hitting the shutter button for I found that it's a bit slow to process, it might seem like it has taken the shot but if you move too quickly you are going to end up with pictures like this. This happens on both the selfie and the rear cameras, that pretty much rules out taking photos in a hurry or while on the go. The selfie camera on the Nokia G10 is an 8-megapixel camera, it also does okay with both normal and portrait shots. You'll be pretty much getting your money's worth. The video capability of the Nokia G10 on both front and rear cameras is 1080p at 30 frames per second with no stabilization, not like I would expect at this price point. The video from the selfie camera of the Nokia G10, it can shoot 1080p full HD videos from both the selfie and the rear cameras. What do you think? The Nokia G10 is a solid device. I recommend for its price, it is easily one of the best entry-level devices by software and battery life.
